Paper published: Poly(vinyl alcohol) Enhancing Therapeutic Effects of 4-L-Boronophenylalanine on Thoracic Tumors in Neutron Capture Therapy

The paper published in the International Journal of Pharmaceutics describes the optimization of the PVA -BPA formulation to be closer for clinical application and verification of its efficacy against refractory thoracic malignant tumors.
The improved formulation, “PVA-sorbitol-BPA,” demonstrated significantly reduced levels of blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine (CRE), which are indicators of renal dysfunction, and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), an indicator of cytotoxicity, compared to conventional PVA-BPA formulation, and that side effects were kept within tolerable limits.
Additionally, PVA-sorbitol-BPA demonstrated more efficient tumor accumulation and prolonged boron concentration maintenance compared to the conventional BPA formulation.

For this study Stella Pharma provided the 10B-riched L-BPA.
